Strong Defensive Effort By Women's Hockey Not Enough For Its First Win

Box Score The Lindenwood women's ice hockey team had its best defensive effort of the season but the Lady Lions couldn't generate any offense in a 3-0 loss at Minnesota State on Friday evening.

Lindenwood allowed 43 shots in the game, but Nicole Hensley was able to stop all but three of them. The Mavericks jumped on top early with a goal just 2:35 into the game. The Lady Lions then went over 43 minutes without allowing another goal. Minnesota State finally got an insurance tally on a power play early in the third period. The final goal came with just 12 seconds left in the contest.

Offensively, Lindenwood had a great opportunity for its first win of the season after being on the power play eight times in the game. It only managed six shots though with a man-advantage and was shutout for the first time since the season opener.

Lindenwood and Minnesota State will square off again tomorrow afternoon with a 3:00 p.m. game.
