Box Score The women's ice hockey team ended its trip to Mankato, Minn. with a 4-1 loss to Minnesota State on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Lions had a good chance to take an early lead when Minnesota State received a major penalty just 33 seconds into the game. Lindenwood had seven shots on goal during its five-minute power play, but could not get on the scoreboard. Minnesota State took advantage then of its first power play by scoring late in the first period for a 1-0 lead.

In the second period, both teams scored one time. The Mavericks took a 2-0 lead with an even-strength goal a little over three minutes into the period. Just over three minutes later, Lindenwood answered with a power-play goal. Lyndsay Kirkham scored with assists from Brett Lobreau and Kendra Broad.

Minnesota State put the game away with two goals in the third period, scoring once in the first three minutes and again at the 13:28 mark.

Minnesota State outshot Lindenwood by a 46-31 mark, and had a 2-1 advantage in power-play goals. Lindenwood won the majority of faceoffs in the game by two, led by Caitlyn Post who won 11-of-18. Nicole Hensley made 42 saves in goal for the Lady Lions.

Lindenwood falls to 0-6-0 on the season. The Lady Lions are off for three weeks until its conference opener on Nov. 2 against nationally-ranked Mercyhurst.
