Box Score The Lindenwood women's volleyball team closed out its long, two-day road trip by falling 3-0 to Nebraska-Kearney.
Nebraska-Kearney was out for revenge, even if the two schools had never played prior to this match-up. Fellow conference member Truman upset the Lopers, who currently are No. 1 in the nation, in four sets last night on the Lopers' home court.
The Lady Lions were shut down in the first two sets, only scoring 10 in set one and seven in set two. Lindenwood rallied in the third, but Nebraska-Kearney still defeated the Lady Lions by a six-point margin.
Lindenwood scored the first two points of set two before Nebraska-Kearney rattled off seven straight points, four of which were from hitting errors on the Lady Lions. The Lopers finished set two with 10 straight points, including four kills from MJ Massanet.
The momentum from the second set carried over into the third for Nebraska-Kearney, as the Lopers got off to a quick 7-2 lead. The Lady Lions chipped away from the Loper lead, bringing it to within two, but it was not enough.
Megan Dillon led the Lady Lions offensively with five kills while three other players contributed three.
Emma Brydels recorded 16 assists in the contest.
The Lady Lions fall to 13-9 for the year and 3-5 in the MIAA. Lindenwood will take almost a week off before hosting back-to-back home games against Central Oklahoma on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and Pittsburg State on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
