Women's Soccer Scores First But Can't Hang On In Loss To Nebraska-Kearney

Box Score The Lindenwood women's soccer team fell in MIAA action on Friday night at Hunter Stadium by a 3-2 score against Nebraska-Kearney.

Things looked good early for the Lady Lions when Bailey Cody and Courtney Bresnahan had a nice back-and-forth that Cody finished for a goal in the 18th minute. The Lopers quickly ended Lindenwood's momentum though with a goal just 50 seconds later. Neither team scored for the rest of the half as those two shots were the only shots on goal for the first 45 minutes.

In the second half, Nebraska-Kearney came out and began to control play a little bit more than Lindenwood. That paid off with a goal in the 64th and 77th minutes. The Lady Lions picked up their pressure late in the game but couldn't get any good scoring chances until the final seconds. With two seconds remaining, Bresnahan took the ball down the sideline and looped a shot over the Lopers' goalie to make the final margin 3-2.

Lindenwood finished the game with 13 shots, including six on goal. Nebraska-Kearney had 10 total shots with six on goal. Jade Davis made three saves for Lindenwood and she played all 90 minutes in goal. Bresnahan led the team with four shots and three shots on goal.

Lindenwood falls to 4-8-1 overall and 0-8-0 in MIAA play. The Lady Lions return to the pitch on Sunday with a conference battle against Fort Hays State.
