MIAA CHAMPS!!

Box Score The No. 19 Lindenwood men's soccer team clinched the school's first ever MIAA conference championship on Friday night after the Lions beat Southwest Baptist 3-1 at Hunter Stadium. With the win the Lions will be the No. 1 seed in next week's conference tournament in Olathe, Kan.

It didn't take Lindenwood long to dent the scoreboard. Just 7:12 into the game, Andre Hayne scored his fifth goal of the season to give the Lions the early 1-0 lead. With seven minutes to play in the first half, Victor Buchim gave the home team a 2-0 lead with his third tally of the season.

The Bearcats were not going to lie down easily and give Lindenwood the conference championship. Southwest Baptist cut the Lions lead in half with a goal at the 65 minute mark. The visitors kept the pressure on Lindenwood but in the 85th minute the Lions put the game away when Ivan Romero scored his third goal of the season.

The Lions outshot the Bearcats 31-5 with a 9-3 margin with shots on goal. Fermin Hughes gave up just one goal and earned his 12th win of the season.

Lindenwood, who earned the No. 1 seed, will play the first round of the MIAA conference tournament against the No. 4 seed, Fort Hays State, on Thursday night at 7 p.m. The tournament will take place in Olathe, Kan.

With the win Lindenwood improves its overall record to 12-2-3 and MIAA mark to 8-0-2. The Lions will close out their regular season schedule on Sunday afternoon in Arkdelphia, Ark. against Ouachita Baptist.
