Women's Volleyball Extends Winning Streak to Five

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Lindenwood women's volleyball team captured two, 3-0 victories against Southern Arkansas and Northwestern Oklahoma State on Friday at the Southwest Baptist Purple Bash.

The Lady Lions turned in late rallies in all three of the sets against Southern Arkansas, including a three-point rally to close out set two at 26-24 after facing one set point. Lindenwood took set one 25-23 after taking five out of the last six points to finish the set. The Lady Lions dug a hole early in the third set, but had two, four-point streaks and one five-point streak to overcome the Southern Arkansas lead and finish set three, 25-22.

Lindenwood as a team hit .371 in the first set and .367 in the third. For the match the Lady Lions hit .273 and recorded 46 kills. Erin Anselman and Megan Dillon each snagged 11 kills a piece, with Anselman hitting at a .526 clip. Kelsey Kennedy recorded nine kills and Kayla Guyot had eight kills in only 12 attempts. The Lady Lions held Southern Arkansas to just .161 in the three set match.

Emma Brydels led all players with 37 assists and Kaila Schrimpf recorded 17 digs in the match.

In match two, the Lady Lions defeated Northwestern Oklahoma State 25-17, 25-17, and 25-16. A recap for the match will be posted later.

Lindenwood now improves to 11-7 for the season and have extended its winning streak to five matches. The Lady Lions will face Arkansas Tech in the 9:00 am match and Arkansas at Monticello in the afternoon session. Lindenwood has defeated both schools earlier this season at the Arkansas Tech Spikefest.
