Box Score Despite going up early in the match, the Lindenwood women's volleyball team fell in four sets on Saturday evening to Emporia State to conclude its inaugural season in the MIAA.
The Lady Lions were down by as many as six going into the final stretches of the first set before a five-point rally brought Lindenwood within one at 18-17. Emporia State increased its lead back up to three at 20-17 before the Lady Lions finished the set on an 8-3 run.
Emporia State got off to a hot start in the second, jumping out to a quick 9-1 lead on the Lady Lions. Lindenwood would bring the score within six during the middle of the set, but could never regain control over the Lady Hornets as Emporia State closed out set two, 25-16.
Set three and four told a similar tale as the second, as long rallies in both sets ultimately gave Emporia State the advantage as they would take set three 25-15 and set four 25-14.
Freshman
Kayla Guyot was one of four players on the floor with double-digit kills, leading the team with 12 at a .423 clip.
Emma Brydels contributed 16 digs to follow along with 37 assists. Seniors
Ashley Treaster and
Kaila Schrimpf also recorded double-digit digs with 11 and 20, respectively.
The Lady Lions finish the 2012 season with an overall record of 15-17 and 5-13 in the MIAA.
