Lady Lions Drop Second Game At Saint Leo Invitational

Box Score A late second half run was not enough for the Lindenwood women's basketball team as they ultimately fell to Saint Leo 73-66 on Saturday evening in its second game of the Saint Leo Invitational.

Junior Caroline Bourlioux tied her career-high point total of 25 along with grabbing seven boards in the contest. Freshman Tori Kuhn and Julie Hlinak each scored double-digits along with Bourlioux in the game.

Lindenwood outscored Saint Leo 40-38 in the second half and cut an 18 point Saint Leo lead to five with 39 seconds left, but Saint Leo would finish the game on a 5-3 run keeping the game out of reach for the Lady Lions.

Saint Leo's nine point lead at the half grew to 18 after jumping out to a 10-1 run in the second half. The Saint Leo lead stayed in the double-digit range before an 8-2 run sparked by a lay-up by freshman Jordynn Martin brought score to 62-54.

The two teams proceeded to battle back-and-forth through the end of the game, but fouls plagued the Lady Lions as they committed seven fouls in the last seven minutes of the game compared to only two by Saint Leo.

Twenty-six Lindenwood fouls compared to 17 Saint Leo fouls would prove to be the biggest difference in the game as Saint Leo made nine more visits to the charity stripe at almost a 74 percent clip.

The Lady Lions were outrebounded 26-25 while they won the turnover battle at 22-23. Both teams made three shots from beyond the arc and Lindenwood made one more field goal in the contest.

Kuhn also snatched a team and career-high nine rebounds in the game.

Lindenwood falls to 1-2 overall in the early season. The Lady Lions will take the next week and a half off before traveling to McKendree on November 28 for a non-conference match-up. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Lebanon, Ill.
