Box Score The Lindenwood women's volleyball team fell on Saturday afternoon at Hyland Arena to Missouri Western by a 3-0 margin. Saturday marked Senior Day for the Lady Lions as eight members of the team were recognized for their contributions to the program.
The Griffons started strong, jumping out to an 11-3 lead. The Lady Lions cut the lead to within five, but that was as close as they would come in the first set, as the Griffons took set one, 25-11.
Lindenwood jumped out to a 6-4 lead in the second before Missouri Western would rattle off five straight to take a 9-6 lead. The Lady Lions would retaliate back in the middle of the set, taking seven out of eight to regain the lead at 18-15. Missouri Western answered back, taking over the final lead of the game. The Lady Lions battled off two set points before falling 25-23 on a kill by the Griffons' Stephanie Hattey.
The Griffon momentum carried them into the third set, taking a 10-5 lead early. The Lady Lions cut the lead to four at one point, but never regained control. The Griffons took set three 25-15, ending on two straight kills.
Senior
Erin Anselman led the team offensively, recording eight kills and 10 digs. Seniors Patsy Erb and
Kaila Schrimpf also recorded double-figure digs in the match with 13 and 12, respectively.
Emma Brydels led the team with 24 assists.
The Lady Lions fall to 14-15 on the season and 4-11 in the MIAA. The match marked the final home game of the season as Lindenwood will travel to Missouri Southern on Tuesday to start its final, three-game road trip of the year.
