Second Period Hurts Lady Lions Again

Box Score The Lindenwood women's hockey team could not score any power-play goals on Friday night against St. Cloud State which hurt the Lady Lions in a 3-1 non-conference loss at the Lindenwood Ice Arena.

Both teams played a scoreless first period but the second period proved to be unkind to the Lady Lions once again on their home ice. St. Cloud State outshot Lindenwood 20-5 in the second 20 minutes and scored three times to take a 3-0 lead.

Lindenwood rebounded with a much better third period. The Lady Lions scored at the 4:23 mark when Jocelyn Slattery scored her first goal of the season with an assist from Chelsea Witwicke. Two times after that the Lady Lions had a power-play opportunity to get even closer, but it could not score any goal.

The Lady Lions were outshot 48-22 in the game. The Huskies were one-for-three on the power play and Lindenwood was zero-for-four. The Lady Lions managed just six shots on goal in eight minutes with the man advantage.

Nicole Hensley took the loss in goal. She made 45 of 48 saves in the game. Caitlyn Post, Slattery, Witwicke, and Alyssa West were all +1. Witwicke and Jordyn Constance each had a team-high two blocks, and Slattery and Allysson Arcibal tied for the team-high with four shots apiece.

Lindenwood and St. Cloud State will play for the fourth time this season on Saturday afternoon at the Lindenwood Ice Arena.
