Box Score The Lindenwood Lions had three players score in double-figures and shot 60 percent from the field on the way to a 95-62 win over the Greenville Panthers in St. Charles, Mo. on Friday night.
The contest was the team's first of the 2012-13 season and the offense started off a little slow. The Lions did not score their first points of the game until the 16:41 mark.
Greenville held the lead for the next three minutes before the Lindenwood took its first lead of the game after an
Efkan Eren bucket. The home team stretched the lead to seven with just under 10 minutes to play.
Greenville did not go down quietly. The Panthers went on a 17-7 spurt to regain the lead by four. The first half closed with the teams trading small runs until the game was tied at the end of the first 20 minutes.
The final half was all Lindenwood. The Lions outscored the Panthers 52-19 and held them to 19 percent shooting.
Alex Bazzell led the team in scoring with 18 points and also grabbed six rebounds.
Brett Thompson and
Cody Sorenson chipped in with 14 points each.
Richie Thompson led the way on the glass with 12 rebounds.
Darris Smith dished out six assists and
Tyler Ressel led the team with three steals.
For the game the Lions shot 60 percent from the field and 40 percent from behind the three-point arc. Lindenwood outrebounded the Panthers 48-28 and forced 14 turnovers.
Up next for the Lions is a home game next Tuesday against Westminster.
