Box Score The Lindenwood women's basketball team came out explosive in the season opener on Friday night and defeated Fontbonne by a score of 92-57 at Hyland Arena.

Tori Kuhn with 18.
Lindenwood got on the board early and quick, as the Lady Lions jumped out to a 20-4 lead in the first five minutes of the game, led by Kuhn. The Lady Lion defense held Fontbonne to single digits until12:25 left in the half.
The Lady Lions finished the first half shooting 51.2 percent from the floor and 70 percent from beyond the arc as they went into the locker room with a 54-33 edge. Fontbonne's offense was silenced in the half, only shooting 34.6 percent from the floor, going 9-26. The key factor keeping the Griffins within reach of the Lady Lions is that they went 14-for-14 from the charity stripe.

Julie Hlinak within the first minute of the second half extend the Lindenwood lead to 25. Fontbonne chipped into the Lady Lion lead through the first five minutes of the half, going on a 12-6 run.
A free-throw by
Marissa Lehnig and a three-pointer 27 seconds later by
Julie Hlinak halted the Fontbonne run, as the Lady Lions proceeded to go on a 25-4 run of their own with 2:51 left in the half.
Lindenwood finished the evening shooting 50 percent from the floor and 56.3% from beyond the arc. The Griffins were held to just a 31.4 percent clip for the game.
Hlinak finished the game with 15 points and a team-high eight boards while
Cassie Bluemner contributed 13 points of her own.
The Lady Lions start the season with a 1-0 record before traveling to Florida for the Saint Leo Invitational. Lindenwood is set to take on Tampa on November 16 at 4:30 p.m.
