Lady Lions Travel To Springfield For Non-Conference Match-Up

• Lindenwood is traveling to Illinois-Springfield for a non conference match-up. This is the third of four GLVC contests for the Lady Lions.

• This marks the fifth contests between the two schools. Lindenwood has the 3-1 advantage over the Prairie Stars.

•The last game between the two schools was November 22, 2011. Lindenwood came out with the win by a score of 61-59.

• The Prairie Stars are coming off of a win against the Lindenwood-Belleville Lynx. Illinois-Springfield won at home by a score of 70-59.

• This is the last contest for Illinois-Springfield before the start of the new year. Lindenwood is set to travel to Missouri S & T on December 19 and will host Benedictine on December 31.

Lindenwood Notes
• The Lady Lions look to snap their six-game losing streak as they will play in their third of four GLVC contests this season.

• As of December 10th, freshman Tori Kuhn is currently sixth in the conference in rebounds per game. Kuhn is averaging 8.6 per game. Nicole Caddell from Central Missouri leads the conference at 10.1 rebounds per game.

Meagan Hittle is currently sixth in the conference in three-point percentage. The sophomore makes .467 of her three-pointers.

• The Lady Lions are currently fourth in the MIAA from beyond the arc, averaging 37 percent. Truman leads the conference, shooting 43 percent from three-point range.

• The Lady Lions have struggled the first part of the season with turnovers. Through the first six games, Lindenwood average 26.0 turnovers per game. In the contest against Pittsburg State, the Lady Lions won the turnover battle and only lost the ball 16 times.

• Lindenwood is seventh in the conference in rebounding, averaging 39.4 per game. The Lady Lions have a plus 1.0 rebounding margin.

Sarah Schnieders is approaching 1,000 career total points. Entering Saturday's contest, she is sitting at 976 points.

• Lindenwood is also seventh in the conference in total steals. The Lady Lions have stolen the ball 63 times this season.

• After the 2011-12 season, the Lindenwood women's basketball squad was recognized by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association for its work in the classroom. The team finished with a team GPA of 3.567 which was the seventh-highest GPA in all of NCAA Division II.

• This season marks the inaugural season for the Lady Lions in the MIAA. The MIAA is one of the top basketball conferences in Division II.

• Due to being in NCAA Division II provisional status, the Lady Lions will not have the opportunity to compete at the MIAA conference tournament in March.

• Lindenwood will wrap up the GLVC portion of its schedule next Wednesday as they head to Missouri S & T. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

Last Time Out
• The Lady Lions hosted Pittsburg State in its inaugural home MIAA contest. Lindenwood fell to the No. 11 team by a score of 82-65.

• Lindenwood was down by as many as 19 early in the second before cutting the Gorilla lead to six.

•The Lady Lions held Pittsburg State to 39 percent from the floor.

• Cutting their turnovers almost in half from the previous contest, the Lady Lions won the turnover battle 16-17.

Sarah Schnieders recorded a season-high 17 points against Pittsburg State.

• Pittsburg State outrebounded the Lady Lions 49-32.

Illinois-Springfield Notes
• Under the direction of Chad Oletzke, the Prairie Stars have started the 2012-13 season with a 3-4 overall record.

• Illinois-Springfield is a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference and will open up its conference schedule at McKendree on January 3.

• The Prairie Stars are led offensively by Megan Bergerud. Bergerud has started and played in all seven contests this season and is averaging 13.4 points per game. Elizabeth Kelly leads the team in rebounds, snatching 8.1 per game.

• Alyssa Palmer has recorded 15 steals this season, averaging 2.5 per game.
