Box Score Coming into the contest just three shy of 1,000 points, senior forward
Sarah Schnieders surpassed that mark in just under four minutes in the 96-71 Lindenwood victory over Benedictine-Springfield on Monday afternoon at Hyland Arena.
With a double-double (19 points, 11 rebounds) in the first half alone, sophomore
Julie Hlinak led the Lady Lions offensively in the contest by scoring her career-high in points with 27 and career-high in rebounds with 16.
Within the first eight minutes of the contest, the Lady Lions gained a 21 point advantage over the Bulldogs, holding them to just three points in that time span. That lead would hover around the 20 point mark throughout the remainder of the first half, growing to as many as 25.
Lindenwood held Benedictine-Springfield to 29.4 percent from the floor in the first half and outrebounded the Bulldogs 31-18.
Turnovers plagued the Lady Lions again in the second half, as the team committed 13 turnovers in the half alone.
The Lindenwood lead grew to as many as 29 seconds before the final buzzer after Benedictine cut the Lady Lions lead to 18 earlier in the half.
Along with Hlinak, three other Lindenwood players contributed double-digit points. Schnieders finished the game with 12 points and seven rebounds,
Caroline Bourlioux finished with 11 points and freshman
Jordynn Martin ended the game with 10 points. The Lady Lions outrebounded the Bulldogs 52-27 and shot 50.6 percent from the field after a 61.8 percent showing in the second half.
The Lady Lions improve to 3-7 on the season. Lindenwood will host Truman on January 5. Tip-off at Hyland Arena is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
