Women's Basketball Hosts Pittsburg State In First Home MIAA Game

• Lindenwood is set to host the Pittsburg State Gorillas in the first MIAA game held at Hyland Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.

• As of December 4th, Pittsburg State was No. 11 in the USA Today Coaches Poll.

• This marks the second meeting between these two schools. The previous meeting was in Pittsburg on Dec. 20, 1997 and Pittsburg State won by a score of 84-52.

• Both squads fell in their first conference games of the season. Lindenwood fell at Northwest Missouri and Pittsburg State lost at home to Central Oklahoma.

• This is the last conference game for both schools until after the first of the year when Pittsburg State takes on Nebraska-Kearney on Jan. 3 and Lindenwood hosts Truman on Jan. 5.

Lindenwood Notes
• The Lady Lions look to snap their five-game losing streak in the first MIAA home game of the program's history.

• Coming into this week, sophomore Meagan Hittle led the conference in three-point percentage. Julie Hlinak was in a tie for 11th in three-point percentage.

• Freshman Tori Kuhn is leading the team with 12.3 points and 8.8 rebounds per game.

• Entering this week, the Lady Lions were third in the conference in three-point shooting percentage at 41.1 percent. Truman leads the conference making 42.7 percent of its three pointers.

• Kuhn recorded her career-high of 20 points against Missouri-St. Louis and career-high of 13 rebounds against Northwest Missouri.

• The Lady Lions have struggled this season with turnovers. Through the first six games, Lindenwood is averaging 26.0 turnovers compared to 19.8 by its opponents.

• Lindenwood has outrebounded its opponents 244-214 this season.

Sarah Schnieders is approaching 1,000 career total points. Entering into Saturday's contest, she is sitting at 959 points.

• The Lady Lions are shooting 66.7 percent from the free throw line. Their opponents are shooting 66.4 percent.

• After the 2011-12 season, the Lindenwood women's basketball squad was recognized by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association for its work in the classroom. The team finished with a team GPA of 3.567 which was the seventh-highest GPA in all of NCAA Division II.

• This season marks the inaugural season for the Lady Lions in the MIAA. The MIAA is one of the top basketball conferences in Division II.

• Due to being in NCAA Division II provisional status, the Lady Lions will not have the opportunity to compete at the MIAA conference tournament in March.

• The Lady Lions will take a week off of competition before heading to Illinois-Springfield on Dec. 15 for the third of four GLVC match-ups this season. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.

Last Time Out
• Lindenwood fell in its inaugural MIAA game to Northwest Missouri by a score of 69-40.

• The Lady Lions were down only two at half before 17 second half turnovers allowed the Bearcats to increase their lead to as many as 31.

Tori Kuhn recorded a career-high 13 rebounds in the contest.

• The Lady Lions were outrebounded by three and Northwest Missouri had seven less turnovers than Lindenwood.

• Lindenwood was up by seven halfway through the first half.

• The Lady Lions shot just over 30 percent from the floor.

Pittsburg State Notes
• Pittsburg State fell in its conference opener to Central Oklahoma by a score of 62-70.

• Under the direction of Lane Lord, the Gorillas are 5-2 to start the 2012-13 season.

• In the most recent USA Today Coaches Poll, the Gorillas were ranked No. 11 in the nation. They started this season at No. 3.

• Pittsburg State is led offensively by sophomore forward Lizzy Jeronimus. She is averging 19.6 points per game and 6.1 rebounds per game.

• Hailey Roderique is leading the team with 10 steals this season and Lauren Brown has tallied 10 blocks.
