The Lindenwood women's basketball team fell on Saturday afternoon in its inaugural MIAA home game to No. 11 Pittsburg State by a score of 82-65. The Lady Lions stuck with the nationally ranked squad and even cut a 19-point Gorilla lead to six with just under seven minutes left in the second half.

Jordynn Martin had their best showings of the season, leading the Lady Lions with 17 points and 10 points, respectively.
Julie Hlinak also contributed double-digit points with 11.
Lindenwood won the turnover battle 16-17, turning the ball over 10 times less than their season average, but the biggest difference in the contest proved to be the battle of the boards as Pittsburg State recorded 17 more rebounds than the Lady Lions.
In the second half, the Lady Lions were down by as many as 19 before Lindenwood produced a 23-10 run to cut the Gorilla lead to six, including back-to-back baskets and a steal from freshman
Emily Alfrey at the end of the run. Pitt State reversed roles in the final minute of the half, going on an 18-6 run that sealed the game for the Gorillas.
Lindenwood shot 40 percent from the floor while holding Pittsburg State to 39.1 percent. The Gorillas capitalized on second chance points with 14 and bench points with 33 while Lindenwood scored only six points off of second chances and 18 points off the bench.
Lindenwood falls to 1-6 on the year and 0-2 in conference play. The Lady Lions will travel to Springfield, Ill. for a non-conference match-up against Illinois-Springfield on December 15. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
