Box Score The Lindenwood men's basketball team trailed for just eight seconds in a 78-69 win over the Urbana Blue Knights on Saturday night at the Hyland Arena.
Lindenwood shot over 55 percent in the first half to send the game into the halftime break with a 42-36 lead.
The final 20 minutes, started with Lindenwood scoring the first 11 of 15 points to take it largest lead of the game at 12. It looked like the Lions were going to cruise to another win, but the Blue Knights did not go away.
With the Lindenwood leading by 10 at the 12:27 mark, Urbana put together a 14-4 run over an eight minute span to tie the score. But after surrendering the big lead the Lions took back control of the game. Over the next four minutes, the Lions won the game from the charity stripe. Lindenwood went 14-of-16 from the line to close out the win.
The Lions shot 45 percent from the field on the night and 88 percent from the free throw line. For only the fourth time this season Lindenwood was outrebounded. The Blue Knights grabbed 38 rebounds to the Lions 32, and Urbana dominated the offensive glass with 13 compared to Lindenwood's five.
Alex Bazzell led the way for the Lions scoring a career-high 27 points. The junior guard was 21-for-22 from the free throw line, and he also dished out a game-high six assists. On a night when the team recognized
Kramer Soderberg for joining the 1,000 point club, he poured in 16 points.
Garrett Reeg chipped in with 12 points and
Tyler Ressel scored 11.
Richie Thompson led the way on the boards grabbing nine.
With the win Lindenwood improves to 23-2 on the season. Up next for the Lions is a home game on Tuesday night against Victory.
