The Lindenwood men's wrestling team had a successful outing Sunday as it competed at the MIAA Duals in Kirksville, Mo., where the Lions went up against Central Missouri, Truman State and Fort Hays State.
In the Central Missouri meet, the Lions went 8-2 against the Mules.
Blayne Shockely won the opening match in the 125 pound weight class by pin fall before
Craig Chiles posted a 3-1 decision in the fourth round.
Daniel Breit defeated his opponent by an 8-0 major decision in the 165 pound weight class. Mason Ridenhour and Jacob Johnson won by decisions in their respective weight classes, respectively. Lindenwood defeated Central Missouri 37-12.
Next up for the Lions were the Truman State Bulldogs who only won two matches during the meeting. Each Lindenwood bout ended in pin fall including a technical fall in 165 pound weight class.
Michael Caldwell competed in the 133 pound weight class where he finished in 2:26 followed by
Jacob Janes recording a pin fall in 2:20.
Cullen Halpin and Ridenhour added to the trend of pin falls while Breit posted the lone technical fall 15-0. Jacob Johnson and
Austin Garza wrapped up the Truman meet with a pair of victories ending the contest 47-12.
Finally the Lions were matched up against the Fort Hays Tigers, Lindenwood's toughest competition of the day. This time out Lindenwood only had two wrestlers win their respective divisions. Caldwell won by a 12-4 major decision and Johnson won his match by a 5-0 decision. However it wasn't enough as the Tigers won by a 39-7 team score.
The wrestling team will wrestle against Maryville in St. Louis, Mo., on Wednesday, Feb. 15. Meet time is set for 7 p.m.
