The Lindenwood Lady Lions basketball team gets back on the road for its last regular season road trip of the season. The two game trip will see the Lady Lions travel to their 10th different state of the season, Oklahoma.
The trip will start off with a contest against Central Oklahoma. The Bronchos won the first matchup earlier in the season, 82-74.
The trip through Oklahoma will end at No. 14 Northeastern State. The Riverhawks are one of the best teams in the country and have won its last 14 out of 16 games. Central Oklahoma won the earlier match up 67-54.
Last Time Out
The Lindenwood Lady Lions got 21 points from
Marissa Lehnig in a 72-57 win over the McKendree Bearcats on Thursday night at the Hyland Arena.
For the first 10 minutes of the game, the lead bounced back-and-forth between the teams but never got more than four points. Then, in the final four minutes the Lady Lions went on a 7-2 run to close the first half leading by six.
The second half was all Lindenwood. The Lady Lions started the final 20 minutes on a 13-4 run over the first five minutes, and took a 13 point lead. McKendree got as close as eight midway through the final half, but never got any closer.
Lindenwood shot 46 percent from the field and held the Bearcats to just 42 percent shooting. The Lady Lions won the battle on the boards outrebounding McKendree 35-31. Lindenwood also committed a season-low 12 turnovers, and forced the Bearcats into 19.
Lehnig led the team with 21 points while
Sarah Schnieders and
Julie Hlinak each scored 15.
Caroline Bourlioux,
Morgan Harrington, Lehnig, and Hlinak all led the team with five rebounds each.
Defense Wins Games
Lindenwood's defense has been improving as the season goes along. On the year, the team is allowing just 62.8 points a game. The squad has allowed 70 or more points three time over the last 12 games.
Leading Late Equals Win
When the Lady Lions have a lead with less than five minutes to play the team is 13-0. Conversely, the team has only two wins if it is trailing at the five minute mark.
Getting to the Line
The team has been a frequent visitor to the free throw line this season. The Lady Lions have taken 534 free throws compared to their opponents 425. When Lindenwood shoots more free-throws the team is 13-4.
Starting Five
So far in the 2011-12 season, the Lady Lions have used seven different starting lineups. The combination of Harrington, Lehnig, Brown, Schnieders, and Bourlioux are 11-2. All other combinations are 4-6.

Sophomore
Caroline Bourlioux has been the one constant in the Lady Lions starting lineup all season long. She has started all 23 of the team's games. She is also second on the team in scoring with 11.3 points and first in rebounds with 6.5.
Spreading it Around
The Lady Lions have done a good job spreading the scoring around this season. In 23 games, there has been six separate leading scorers.
Sarah Schnieders has led the team in scoring the most on the squad. She has been top scorer eight time this season.

Road Warriors
The Lady Lions will be criss-crossing the country in 2011-12, including a trip off the continental United States. Lindenwood will travel to 10 states this season including the program's first ever trip to Hawaii. The ladies will travel to Louisiana, Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Oklahoma, and South Dakota.
Moving Up the List
Sarah Schnieders is in her third season as a member of the basketball program. With her six blocks this season she has moved into the top 10 list in career blocks at Lindenwood. As of the team's last game, she has recorded 59 blocks which is sixth best all-time.
Opponents Breakdown
This season with the Lindenwood athletics department in a transition year, the team will be taking on a wide range of opponents. The Lady Lions will play 10 NCAA Division II teams, five NAIA teams, and two NCAA Division I teams.
About Central Oklahoma
Central Oklahoma enters the contest against the Lady Lions with a record of 14-9. The team has won its last two out of three games.
Offensively, the team is averaging 75.4 points and on defense it surrenders 69. The Bronchos are shooting 35 percent from the field and 72 percent from the charity stripe.
