Lions Beat Northeastern State by Three on the Road

Box Score The Lindenwood men's basketball team survived a late game run by the Northeastern State Riverhawks and squeaked out a 57-54 win on Saturday night in Tahlequa, Okla.

The first 20 minutes was back-and-forth with six lead changes and three ties. The Lions got a bucket from Cody Sorenson late in the first half to tie the score at 25 heading into the locker room.

Lindenwood's offense started to click in the second half and eventually would lead by eight with just under 10 minutes to play in the game. But on a night when Northeastern State was honoring its seniors, the home team did not go down quietly.

At the eight minute mark, the Riverhawks started their come back. Northeastern State went on a 14-5 run over a seven minute span to take a one point lead with 1:39 to play.

After taking the lead the Riverhawks fouled Garrett Reeg in the act of shooting. Reeg connected on both free-throws to give the Lions the one point advantage.

The Riverhawks had a chance to take the lead but John Schneider missed a jumper and the rebounds was corralled by Richie Thompson. Alex Bazzell closed the contest out with a pair of free throws.

The Lions swept the season series from the future MIAA opponent and finished their regular season road portion of the schedule with a record of 7-1.

Lindenwood was led by Reeg who scored 16 points and also grabbed six rebounds. Bazzell was second on the team with 12 points, and Kramer Soderberg chipped in with 10. Efkan Eren led the team in rebounds with eight.

The Lions improve to 25-3 on the season. Lindenwood will close out its regular season with a home game on Monday night against McKendree.
