Box Score The Lindenwood Lady Lions basketball team closed out its 2011-12 season in style. The Lady Lions beat the Oakland City Mighty Oaks 90-55 on Tuesday night in St. Charles, Mo.
Lindenwood started the game making its first four-of-five shots and taking an eight point lead. Oakland City was able to cut the lead to five with just over ten minutes to play in the first half. The home team answered the Oaks run and closed out the first half on a 21-11 spurt to lead by 15.
The visitors came out of the locker room determined to cut into the lead, and that is exactly what they did. Oakland City went on a 12-4 run to cut the Lindenwood lead to seven. But the only thing the run did was wake the Lady Lions up. Over an eight minute span, Lindenwood extended its lead up to 28 after a 28-7 run. The Lady Lions continued to score increasing its lead up to as high as 39.
Lindenwood's bench played a big role in the game outscoring the Oaks bench 28-7. The Lady Lions shot 51 percent from the field and 50 percent from behind the three-point arc. Lindenwood turned the ball over just 13 times compared to the Oaks 29.
Marissa Lehnig scored a career-high 25 points on 10-of-16 shooting.
Sarah Schnieders scored 21 and
Julie Hlinak chipped in with 11 and led the team with seven rebounds.
With the win the Lady Lions close out their season with a record of 17-10.
