The Lindenwood men's and women's tennis teams lost Tuesday as it continued it's Florida road trip and travelled to Lakeland to take on the Florida Southern Mocs. The men's team lost 8-1 while the women's team was shut out 9-0.
The men's team picked up its solo victory in doubles competition as the duo of Thiago Mastroianni and
Eric Tucoulou won 8-6.
Otavio Costa and
William Hale fell 8-1 while
Rahul Sadhwani and
Gauthier Schilling lost 8-4.
The Lions were swept in singles play with Tucoulou falling 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 1 match followed by Schilling losing 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 2 while Mastroianni lost by a 6-0, 6-1 score. Costa was in the No. 4 match but lost 6-1, 6-0 and Sadhwani was blanked in the No. 5 match 6-0, 6-0. Hale wrapped up the contest in the No. 6 match also losing 6-1, 6-2.
The Lady Lions were shut out on their third day in Florida to the No. 12 ranked Mocs.
Adela Slovakova started the contest in the No. 1 and lost 6-0, 6-0 with
Mariona Pinol played in the No. 2 match and also lost 6-0, 6-1.
Brigitte Bustamante had her first appearance on the court but lost 6-1, 6-1 followed by
Sarah Sharpe who fell 6-4, 6-0 in the No. 4 match.
Rachel Bailey and
Shreeja Karki also lost their contests.
In the doubles division, the team of Pinol and Slovakova lost to the No. 17 ranked doubles team by an 8-0 score as Bailey and Sharpe recorded the only set win but lost 8-1. The final contest ended with a Lady Lions loss as well as Bustamanta and
Lindsey Wolfgang were shut out by the Mocs 8-0.
With these loses, the men's team falls to 5-7 while the women are now 1-11. The Lindenwood tennis team will get a couple days rest before travelling to Pensacola, Fla., to take on Georgia College. Match time is set for 8 a.m.
