The Lindenwood men's and women's tennis team wrapped up its Florida road trip on Friday as both teams were shut out by Georgia College 9-0. Later in the night, the men's team picked up its lone victory with a 6-3 win over Delta State while the women fell 9-0 to BYU-Hawaii.
In the first match, the Lions were blanked by Georgia College with
Eric Tucoulou falling in the No. 1 match to the No. 24 ranked player 6-2, 7-5 followed by
Gauthier Schilling losing 6-1, 6-1. Thiago Mastroianni fell 6-2, 6-2 and
Juan Vicenzio didn't win a set.
Rahul Sadhwani and
William Hale lost 6-4, 6-2 and 6-2, 6-2. The Lions were also swpet in doubles competition.
Following the opening contest, the men's team went on to record a win against Delta State, who replaced BYU-Hawaii in the competition. The men's team concluded the match later in the night with a 6-3 victory.
Starting off Friday, the Lady Lions were also shut out by Georgia College with a 9-0 score. Four contests were shut outs with
Adela Slovakova falling 6-3, 6-0 in the No. 1 match,
Mariona Pinol losing 6-0, 6-3 in the No. 2 contest. Rachel Bailet lost 6-2, 6-3 score in the No. 5 match while
Shreeja Karki wrapped up the No. 6 match by a 6-3, 6-3 score.
The Lady Lions also fell to the Division-II No. 1 ranked BYU-Hawaii women's team by a 9-0 score. Although the outcomes were not as expected, both teams were exposed to a number of high-level competitors.
The men's team advances to 6-8 while the women drop to 1-13. The Lindenwood tennis team will host Southwest Baptist on Friday, April 6 in St. Charles, Mo. Match time is set for 1 p.m.
