The Lindenwood tennis teams hosted William Jewell College on Sat., April 21 in St. Charles, Mo. The Lions lost 5-4 while the women's team was shut out 9-0.
The women's team had its closest contest come from
Mariona Pinol in the No. 2 match and
Rachel Bailey in the No. 5. Both Lindenwood players were able to come from behind and win the second set in order to force a tiebreaker. Unfortunately, the two Lady Lions eventually fell in the final set.
On the men's side, the team went 1-2 in doubles competition with
Gauthier Schilling and
Rahul Sadhwani winning the No. 3 doubles match.
Eric Tucoulou and Schilling were victorious in their outings as well as Thiago Mastroianni who won the No. 4 match in three sets.
Going into the final match, it was 4-4 in match decisions before
William Hale competed in the No. 6 match. Hale lost the first set but came back with a 6-4 victory in the second. Although the match up was close, Hale eventually lost 6-4 giving William Jewell the win 5-4.
This was the final match for the Lady Lions tennis team this year and wrap up the season with a 3-16 record. The men's team falls to 8-11 on the season and will host Missouri Baptist on Wednesday, April 25. Match time is set for 3 p.m.
