The Lindenwood tennis teams went 1-2 this weekend as the men lost to Southwest Baptist on Friday 7-2 while the women fell 9-0. The Lady Lions were able to pull out a victory against Principia College on Saturday by a 7-2 score.
Starting off the weekend, the Lions had their only two victories come from
Gauthier Schilling who posted a 3-6, 6-3, 10-4 win in the No. 3 match while
Rahul Sadhwani won the other by a 6-4, 5-7, 10-8 score. The men's team was swept in doubles competition as well.
Also falling to the Bearcats was the women's team who were blanked in both divisions. Briggette Bustamante and
Shreeja Karki were the most successful players as they took a set off their opponents in both of their matches. In doubles competition,
Adela Slovakova and
Mariona Pinol were defeated 8-3,
Rachel Bailey and
Sarah Sharpe lost 8-0 and
Lindsey Wolfgang and Bustamante fell 8-2.
On Saturday, the Lady Lions started up in the doubles division and never looked back. Slovakova and Pinol won 8-2 while Sharpe and Bailey were also successful winning 9-7. Starting the singles Slovakova won 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 1 match followed by Pinol's 6-2, 6-2 victory in the No. 2. Bustamante and Sharpe pulled out wins as well with Karki wrapping up the Lindenwood victory with a 1-6, 6-1, 6-4 score in the No. 6 match.
The Lindenwood tennis teams split up this week, as the men's team will host Kaskaskia Community College on Tues., April 10 at 3:30 p.m. The Lady Lions travel to Northeastern State on Fri., April 13 where the match is scheduled to start in Springfield, Mo., at 4 p.m.
