Box Score The Lindenwood men's soccer team defeated Ouachita Baptist (Ark.) University on Sunday afternoon by a score of 1-0 in the non-conference match-up at Hunter Stadium.
The two teams headed into the locker room at 0-0 at halftime, despite the Lions getting off 13 shots with four of those on goal. The Lion defense held Ouachita Baptist to only two total shots for the half.
Aris Nukic led the Lion offense by recording five of the 13 team shots with two of his on goal.
The start of the second half was much like the first, with both squads battling back-and-forth with possession. The Lindenwood offense scored in the 68th minute when
Axel Duarte connected with a pass from
Eric Olvera about 20 yards out from the goal. The lone goal in the game marked his first goal of the season.
Fermin Hughes recorded the win in the net for the Lions while tallying three saves during the afternoon.
The Lindenwood defense held Ouachita to only six shots for the entire day, with half of those being on goal. The Lions themselves recorded 24 total shots with nine on goal.
Lindenwood now improves to 4-1-1 for the season while Ouachita falls to the .500 mark at 4-4-0. Lindenwood is also undefeated at home this season, with a 3-0-0 record. The Lions will take the next few days off before hosting Truman State (Mo.) University in a conference match-up on Thursday evening. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the Hunter Stadium Pitch.
