Lions Erase Two Goal Deficit But Tie Truman

Box Score The Lindenwood men's soccer team fell behind by two early against Truman State but battled back with two second half goals to tie the Bulldogs on Thursday night in St. Charles.

Truman jumped out to 1-0 when Tony Luedecke scored at the 10 minute mark. After the Lions surrendered the early goal the ball spent most of the time on the Truman side of the field. Even with all the pressure Lindenwood put on the Bulldogs, the Lions were unable to net the equalizer in the first half.

The visitors took what looked like to be a commanding 2-0 lead after Andy Chapman scored in the 58th minute. But finally in the 69th minute the Lions got on the scoreboard. Ivan Romero netted his first goal of the season to give the home team some momentum. Lindenwood sustained that momentum and just six minutes later Victor Buchim tied the score at two.

Neither team was able to break the tie in regulation and the contest headed into extra time. The Lions had a golden opportunity in the first overtime but Romero's shot hit the crossbar and the game headed into the second overtime.

Lindenwood once again had a few chances in the second extra time but could not break the tie.

The 2-2 tie was a physical matchup with Truman State recording 16 fouls while Lindenwood had 14. The Lions had 21 shot attempts with nine of those reaching the goal while the Bulldogs recorded six shots on goal.

Lindenwood is now 4-1-2 on the season and will be back in action Saturday September 22nd when they play host to Upper Iowa University.
