Lions Beat Upper Iowa 1-0

Box Score The Lindenwood Lions men's soccer team beat Upper Iowa 1-0 on Saturday night at Hunter Stadium in St. Charles.

Both offenses were very quiet in the first half. The teams combined for just three shots on goal and the game headed into the half tied at zero.

The second half started just like the first. Neither team could get much of anything going on offense until Lindenwood finally broke through in the 72nd minute. Hernan Gonzalez buried a shot just inside the box for his first goal of the season.

The Lions kept the pressure for the final 20 minutes and won the game 1-0. Fermin Hughes started in the net for Lindenwood and stopped all three shots he faced.

With the win the Lions improve to 5-1-2. After having its last three games at home Lindenwood will head out on the road for three games. The road trip starts with a game at Fort Hays state next Thursday.
