Box Score The Lindenwood women's volleyball team fell on Saturday afternoon 3-1 to Missouri Western in a conference match-up in St. Joseph, Mo.
The Lady Lions started strong, taking set one 25-19 after hitting almost .300 as a team. Lindenwood recorded 16 kills with only five errors in the first set.
Sets two through four were a different story, as Lindenwood never gained the momentum back from set to take control. The Lady Lions were down by as many as five heading into the final points of set two before rattling off six straight to take it to set point at 24-23. Lindenwood could not hold on to that lead as Missouri Western answered back with three of their own to take the set, scoring on a Griffon kill and two attack errors by the Lady Lions.
The second set defeat carried over into set three, as Lindenwood found themselves in a 6-0 hole early in the set. The Lady Lions brought it to within one in the middle of the set at 14-13, but seven straight points late for the Griffons sealed the deal in set three, holding an eight point margin over the Lady Lions.
Set four started as a back-and-forth battle between the two teams, but when the set was at 11-all, the Griffons went on a 14-3 run, ultimately taking set four 25-14.
For the afternoon, the Lady Lions hit .063 as a team while Missouri Western posted a .133 clip.
Two Lady Lions recorded double-digit kills, led by
Kelsey Kennedy's 15 and
Katie Weber's 10.
Emma Brydels led all players on the floor with 39 assists and two service aces.
Lindenwood falls to 6-7 for the season and 1-4 in the MIAA. The Lady Lions return back to their home court to take on Missouri-St. Louis in a non-conference match-up on Sept. 25. The match is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
