Box Score The Lindenwood women's hockey team was swept in its two-game series against Ohio State this weekend. The Lady Lions dropped Saturday's game by a 7-2 margin.
Lindenwood dropped to 0-2-0 on the season after the Buckeyes dominated special teams. Ohio State outscored the Lady Lions just 2-1 when the two teams were at even strength. The Buckeyes though scored three power-play goals, one shorthanded goal, and one goal with an extra attacker. The Lady Lions scored just once on the power play.
Alison Wickenheiser scored the team's first goal of the season with a strike just over 13 minutes into the second period.
Alyssa West assisted on that score. Less than three minutes later, freshman Lynsday Kirkham scored with an assist from Lindenwood newcomer
Jocelyn Slattery.
Kirkham's goal cut Ohio State's lead to 4-2 and gave Lindenwood the momentum. The Buckeyes though scored with just 40 seconds left in the second period to steal the momentum back. The Buckeyes then added two more goals in the third period for the final five-goal margin.
Lindenwood was outshot 60-18 in the game.
Nicole Hensley stopped 53 shots for the Lady Lions.
The Lady Lions will have their first home series of the year next Friday and Saturday at the Lindenwood Ice Arena. They will host No. 2 Wisconsin starting with a Friday evening game at 7 p.m.
