Box Score The Lindenwood women's volleyball team won its second straight match on Saturday evening when it defeated Missouri Southern by a 3-0 margin at Hyland Arena.
The two teams bounced back-and-forth early before the Lady Lions went on a seven-point run to take the 11-4 advantage. Missouri Southern proceeded to go on a short 4-2 run before Lindenwood rallied back with four straight. Missouri Southern would get within four on a couple occasions, but the Lady Lions ran away with set one, winning 25-17.
Set two started about the same way, a bit of back-and-forth between the two teams before Lindenwood broke away and produced an eight-point run behind the serving of Patsy Erb to take the 10-3 lead. Lindenwood never looked back, not allowing Missouri Southern into double-digits until they had already reached the 20-point mark. The Lady Lions finished off set two by a 25-13 score after a kill by
Erin Anselman.
The momentum from set two carried its way into the third, with Lindenwood jumping out to a 17-7 lead.
Allison Waldvogel served her way through six straight points on the 7-0 run that allowed the Lady Lions to jump to the big advantage. Missouri Southern never scored more than two points in a row to close out the game, as Lindenwood took the third, 25-14.
Kelsey Kennedy and Anselman finished the evening with nine kills a piece, with Kennedy hitting at the .500 mark. As a team, the Lady Lions hit .264 while holding Missouri Southern to .000.
Emma Brydels led all players with 24 assists and
Kaila Schrimpf recorded 12 digs for the evening.
The Lady Lions continue their home stretch with a match against McKendree on Tuesday, October 2
nd. This will be the second meeting this season between the two schools with McKendree holding the 1-0 advantage. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
