Box Score The Lindenwood women's hockey team held Robert Morris' offense in check for the first five periods of the series this weekend. The Colonials came alive though in the final period by scoring four goals and winning game two of the series by a 5-2 margin.
The first two periods were a defensive showdown as the only goal was a shorthanded goal by Robert Morris nine minutes into the game. Shots were mostly even for the first period, but Robert Morris outshot the Lady Lions 21-6 in the second period.
The third period started with a wild offensive stretch as three goals were scored in a 55-second span.
Jocelyn Slattery tied the game at one for Lindenwood with
Katie Erickson and
Alyssa West assisting on the tally. Robert Morris went back ahead with an unassisted goal, but Lindenwood answered just 11 seconds later.
Kendra Broad scored that goal and Slattery and
Lyndsay Kirkham had assists.
The game remained tied for nearly eight minutes before the Colonials scored the game-winner at the 11:12 mark. They then added two more insurance goals down the stretch to keep the Lady Lions from sweeping the CHA series.
Robert Morris finished the game with a 48-21 advantage in shots. Neither team scored on the power play with Lindenwood having three chances and Robert Morris failing on five attempts.
