Lady Lions Travel To Missouri Western For Conference Road Game

• The Lindenwood Lady Lions will take a break from home and travel to Missouri Western this Wednesday. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in St. Joseph, Mo.

• This is the second meeting all-time between the two schools. Missouri Western defeated Lindenwood 99-47 during the 1982-83 season.

• This is the first road game in five contests for the Lady Lions. After this game, Lindenwood will return home for three more. It then starts the final stretch of its schedule where the team is on the road for six out of the last eight games.

• Lindenwood earned its first MIAA victory in school history against Central Oklahoma on Saturday. Missouri Western pulled off a nailbitter, 68-66 at home against Northwest Missouri last Saturday.

Lindenwood Notes
• Lindenwood looks to win its second straight as it heads to Missouri Western. The Lady Lions beat Central Oklahoma for its first conference victory.

• As of January 14, Julie Hlinak is 11th in the conference in three-pointers made per game. The sophomore averages 1.8 per game.

• Hlinak also is 13th in the conference in scoring average. She is averaging 12.7 points per game. Sarah Schnieders is 23rd in the conference averaging 10.6 points per game.

• Schnieders is 13th in the conference in field-goal percentage, shooting 50.6 percent from the floor.

• Lindenwood is 10th in the conference in overall scoring offense. The Lady Lions average 66.8 points per game.

Sarah Schnieders, Meagan Hittle, and Julie Hlinak have started in every game they have played in this season. For Hittle and Hlinak, that is all 13 of them.

• Lindenwood is seventh in the MIAA in rebounds per game, averaging just under five shy of the leader at 38.8 boards per game.

• Lindenwood is ninth in the MIAA in field-goal percentage, making 42.0 percent of its shots from the floor.

• The Lady Lions are ninth in the conference in three-point percentage, shooting 33.1 percent per game.

• The Lady Lions are 10th in free throw percentage. The team is averaging 66.7 percent per game.

• After the 2011-12 season, the Lindenwood women's basketball squad was recognized by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association for its work in the classroom. The team finished with a team GPA of 3.567 which was the seventh-highest GPA in all of NCAA Division II.

• This season marks the inaugural season for the Lady Lions in the MIAA. The MIAA is one of the top basketball conferences in Division II.

• Due to being in NCAA Division II provisional status, the Lady Lions will not have the opportunity to compete at the MIAA conference tournament in March.

• Lindenwood is set to host Lincoln on January 19. Tip time is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Hyland Arena.

Last Time Out
• Lindenwood earned its first conference victory in school history on Saturday against Central Oklahoma.

Julie Hlinak led the Lindenwood offensive with 23 points.

Sarah Schnieders recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

• Lindenwood outrebounded Central Oklahoma 48-42.

• The Lady Lions also won the turnover battle 21-19.

• Lindenwood shot 79.4 percent from the charity stripe. That was the second highest mark all season for the Lady Lions.

Missouri Western Notes
• The Missouri Western Griffons are 11-3 overall and 4-2 in MIAA play under the direction of head coach Rob Edmisson. Edmisson is in his first season at the helm of the Griffons.

• Missouri Western most recently defeated Northwest Missouri at home. The Griffons won the nailbitter by a score of 68-66.

• Heather Howard is the lead offensive threat for the Griffons, averaging 14.1 points per game. In the 14 games played, Howard has been the leading scorer in 10 of those games.

• Howard also averages a team-high 10.0 rebounds per game.
