Women's Hockey Shut Out By No. 6 Mercyhurst

Box Score The Lindenwood women's ice hockey team could not slow down the No. 6 team in NCAA Division I on Friday afternoon as Mercyhurst handed the Lady Lions a 10-0 setback.

The first 10 minutes could not have gone much better for Lindenwood's defense as it kept the Lakers off the scoreboard and allowed just two shots on goal. Mercyhurst took control of the game in the second part of that period though with help from three Lindenwood penalties. The Lakers scored two power-play goals and added an even-strength goal for a 3-0 lead after one period.

Mercyhurst added three more goals in the second period, including another power-play goal, and scored four times in the third period. The Lakers finished the game with a 48-17 advantage on shots. Mercyhurst scored on three-of-four power plays, while Lindenwood was 0-for-five with a man advantage.

Lindenwood's first line was the top performers for the Lady Lions. The triple-A line of Alison Wickenheiser, Alyssa West, and Allysson Arcibal accounted for 11 of Lindenwood's 17 shots. Each of those players were minus-one, the best mark among all of the players on the first three lines.

Lindenwood concludes its season series with Mercyhurst tomorrow afternoon with a 2 p.m. game in Erie, Pa. at the Erie Insurance Arena.
