The Lindenwood women's basketball team battled tough against the No. 14 Washburn Lady Blues on Saturday afternoon, falling 64-46 at Hyland Arena. Lindenwood was down by as many as 26 before cutting the Washburn lead to 17 just moments before the end of the contest.

Lindenwood started tough by hanging with the Lady Blues and even taking the lead just four minutes into the game. Sarah Schnieders hit a lay-up and a free-throw to put Lindenwood up 8-6 at the 16:10 mark in the first half. Washburn retaliated back; posting a 9-0 run that put the Lady Blues up seven. The Washburn lead continued to grow to 18 heading into the locker rooms.

Both teams remained steady until Washburn broke out and increased its lead to 26. That lead hovered between 22 and 26 before the Lady Lions sparked a run on their own.  Lindenwood proceeded to follow a 12-5 run, bringing the score to 61-44. That was as close as they would come, as cold shooting set the team back.

Caroline Bourlioux led the Lady Lions with a team-high 10 points while going 8-for-8 for a season-high from the charity stripe. As a team, the Lady Lions only shot 26 percent from the floor and 12.5 percent from beyond the arc.

Tiara George of the Lady Blues led all players on the floor with 11 points.

Lindenwood falls to 4-13 overall and 1-8 in the MIAA. The Lady Lions will travel to Southwest Baptist on January 31 for a conference match-up. Tip time in Bolivar, Mo. is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
