Women's Hockey Returns Home For Paint The Rink Pink

Lindenwood Notes RIT Notes CHA Notes 

Series Notes
- Lindenwood returns to the Lindenwood Ice Arena this weekend for a two-game CHA series against RIT.

- Friday's game is “Paint the Rink Pink” as several promotions will go on to help raise money for breast cancer research.

- Lindenwood and RIT are two of the three first-year programs in the CHA. RIT is having the most success as it sits in third with a 5-3-4 conference record. Lindenwood is 2-9-1 in conference play and is in fifth-place.

- Earlier this season, Lindenwood went 0-1-1 in a series with RIT. RIT won the opener by a 5-1 score, and the two teams tied 1-1 in the second game.

- In the second game, the Lady Lions' Nicole Hensley stopped 43 of 44 shots.

- Alison Wickenheiser and Lyndsay Kirkham both scored against RIT, and Kendra Broad had an assist.

- Lindenwood is looking to snap a nine-game losing streak on its home ice. Four of those games were decided by two or less goals.

- RIT is 8-6-1 this season away from its home rink.

- In just CHA games, RIT is fourth in the conference with 2.08 goals a game while Lindenwood is fifth with 1.67 goals a game.

- Defensively, RIT is fourth allowing 2.17 goals a game, and Lindenwood is sixth allowing 4.50 goals.

A Look Back At Mercyhurst
- Lindenwood lost two games last weekend to nationally-ranked Mercyhurst.

- The team had its worst loss of the season in game one of the series with a 10-0 setback.

- The Lady Lions allowed at least three goals in every period and they were outshot 48-17 for the game.

- Lindenwood and Mercyhurst were tied halfway through game two before the Lakers pulled away for a 5-1 win.

- The five goals allowed were the fewest that Lindenwood has given up to a nationally-ranked team. The final four-goal margin tied for Lindenwood's best mark against a ranked program.

- Erica Wynn scored Lindenwood's only goal in the series. It was her first goal since the Lady Lions moved to the NCAA level.

- Jocelyn Slattery had an assist on that goal. She now has seven on the season which ranks third on the team.

- Lindenwood's defense allowed 91 shots in the two games. In the previous series with Mercyhurst, the team gave up 134 shots to the Lakers.

- Mercyhurst had a big advantage on special teams. The Lakers were four-for-ten on the power play while Lindenwood was 0-for-ten.

Lindenwood Notes
- After scoring seven goals in each of the series against North Dakota and Robert Morris, Lindenwood's offense has struggled against Syracuse and Mercyhurst. The Lady Lions have scored just three goals in the last four games.

- Alyssa West has been one of the top players on the ice for Lindenwood lately. Over the last seven games, she has a +3 plus/minus.

- In Lindenwood's two wins and one tie, it has scored 11 goals. Alison Wickenheiser has had a hand in seven of those tallies, with four goals and three assists.

- In those three games, Lindenwood's Nicole Hensley has a .957 save percentage. She has allowed four goals, with only one coming with both teams at full strength.

- Chelsea Witwicke is one of nine defensemen in the CHA that has collected double-digit points on the year.

- Lyndsay Kirkham is one of ten freshmen in the CHA that has collected double-digit points this season.

- Jocelyn Slattery has recorded five points over the last six games, with one goal and four assists.

- Taylor Fairchild has appeared in five straight games, including starts in the last four. She has made 1,362 saves during her Lindenwood career. Only three active CHA goalies have made more stops.

- Lindenwood's defense has been stronger on fresh ice this season. Less than 44 percent of its goals allowed have come in the first 10 minutes of the period.

- The Lady Lions' power-play has been quiet with just one goal over their last 24 attempts, including 16 straight without a goal.

CHA Notes
- Mercyhurst is the lone nationally-ranked team out of the CHA. The Lakers are No. 7 in the USCHO.com ranking and in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll.

- Lindenwood goes on the road on Feb. 8-9 for a two-game series at Penn State. The two teams split the first series this year with Lindenwood winning 5-1 and Penn State winning 3-2.

About the Tigers
- RIT is one of the hottest teams in the CHA by going 6-1-2 over its last nine games.

- The Tigers are the most penalized team in the conference with 12.0 penalty minutes a game. It ranks fourth in penalty kill by killing power plays 81.8 percent of the time.

- Kim Schlattman leads a balanced offense with 10 goals. Ariane Yokoyama has a team-high 12 assists, and Yokoyama and Kourtney Kunichika each have a team-high 18 points.

- Goalie Ali Binnington has a 1.88 GAA and has a .926 save percentage.

- Head coach Scott McDonald is in his seventh season at the school. He has won 147 games, including last year's NCAA Division III National Championship.
