Women's Basketball Hosts Truman In First Conference Game Of 2013

• The Lindenwood Lady Lions are hosting the Truman Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon with a tip-off time of 1:00 p.m.

• This game is the third time that the two squads have competed against each other. The prior two contests were back in the 1970's and Truman has the 2-0 advantage.

• The Lady Lions are 3-7 overall and 0-2 in the MIAA. Truman comes into the contest with a 9-2 overall record and 2-1 record in the MIAA.

• Lindenwood is coming off of a non-conference victory over Benedictine-Springfield this past Monday. The Lady Lions defeated the Bulldogs 96-71 at Hyland Arena.

• The Bulldogs are on a two-game winning streak with their most recent win coming against Lincoln by a score of 71-53.

Lindenwood Notes
• Lindenwood is coming off of a 96-71 victory over Benedictine-Springfield. In that contest, senior Sarah Schnieders surpassed 1,000 career points, recording 12 in the contest.

• As of January 4, freshman Tori Kuhn is tied for tenth overall in total rebounds. She is the only freshman in the top-ten and is averaging 7.5 rebounds per game. Kuhn is fifth in the conference in offensive rebounds, averaging 3.1 per game.

Sarah Schnieders is in the top-15 in field-goal percentage. She is making 51.7 percent of her shots, going 30-for-58 in seven games this season.

• Lindenwood recorded 23 assists in the victory against Benedictine-Springfield. That was the second highest mark this season.

• The Lady Lions recorded a season-high 52 rebounds against Benedictine-Springfield.

• Lindenwood shot a season-high 50.6 percent from the floor against Benedictine-Springfield. That tops the mark of 50.0 percent recorded in the game against Fontbonne.

• The Lady Lions are tenth in the conference in field-goal percentage, making 41.5 percent of their shots.

• They are also tenth in three-point percentage, shooting 32.7 percent beyond the arc. Truman leads the conference at 46.6 percent.

Julie Hlinak scored a career-high 27 points and snagged a career-high 16 rebounds in the victory over Benedictine-Springfield. She went 12-for-21 from the field and 2-for-5 from beyond the arc.

• After the 2011-12 season, the Lindenwood women's basketball squad was recognized by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association for its work in the classroom. The team finished with a team GPA of 3.567 which was the seventh-highest GPA in all of NCAA Division II.

• This season marks the inaugural season for the Lady Lions in the MIAA. The MIAA is one of the top basketball conferences in Division II.

• Due to being in NCAA Division II provisional status, the Lady Lions will not have the opportunity to compete at the MIAA conference tournament in March.

• The Lady Lions will remain at home next week as they host Missouri Southern on January 10 and Central Oklahoma on January 12. Thursday's contest is set to start at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday's game will start at 1:00 p.m.

Last Time Out
• Lindenwood defeated Benedictine-Springfield 96-71 at Hyland Arena.

• Sophomore Julie Hlinak led the team offensively with 27 points and 16 rebounds.

• The Lady Lions started the game on a 20-1 run, not allowing more than a point until after five and a half minutes passed.

• The Lady Lions outrebounded Benedictine-Springfield 52-27.

• Lindenwood held the Bulldogs to 41.4 percent from the floor and 66.7 percent from the charity stripe.

• The Lady Lions scored 18 second-chance points compared to only two by the Bulldogs.

Truman Notes

• In the contest against Mount Mercy, the Bulldogs broke school and conference records for most three-pointers made in a game with 22. Truman went 22-for-31 from beyond the arc and also set an NCAA Division II record after rattling off 13 three's in a row.

• Michael Smith is the head coach of the Bulldogs and he has compiled a 57-62 record at Truman.

• Sophomore Allie Norton has led the team in scoring on five occasions, earning a season-high 20 in the game against McKendree. Courtney Strait scored a career-high 28 points in the game against Mount Mercy after going 8-for-10 from beyond the arc.

• The Truman Bulldogs have started off the 2012-13 season with an 9-2 overall record.
