The Lindenwood women's volleyball team lost another road match Tuesday evening against the Illinois-Springfield Prairie Stars by a score of 3-2.
Kayla Guyot led the Lady Lions with 23 kills, a personal season best. Megan Dillon and Kailene Young each contributed 14 kills of their own. Emma Brydels had a team-high 54 assists.
After the matches' first set went down to the wire, the Lady Lions edged Illinois-Springfield in set one 27-25 to go up 1-0. Lindenwood carried this momentum into set two as they widened its lead 2-0 with a 25-21 victory.
Illinois-Springfield caught fire in set three taking a commanding 18-11 lead. Lindenwood fought its way back though as it tied the set at 22 each. The Prairie Stars put a stop to the Lady Lions comeback, going on a 3-0 tear to close out the set and cut Lindenwood's match lead to 2-1.
Illinois-Springfield took the lead early in set number four as they went up 16-10. Lindenwood managed to cut into the Prairie Stars lead again making the score 18-16 Illinois-Springfield. The Prairie Stars put the pedal to the floor again by widening their lead and closing out the set with a 25-19 victory.
The Prairie Stars looked to close the match out in set five as they jumped out to a 10-6 lead. Lindenwood again clawed back scoring a few points to reduce Illinois-Springfield's lead to 12-10. Illinois-Springfield shut the door though scoring three straight points to win set number five and take the match 3-2.
The Lady Lions return home for their next match Friday night when they face Fort Hays State at 7 p.m.
