Box Score The Lindenwood women's volleyball team lost to the Missouri S&T Miners Tuesday night in Rolla, Missouri 3-1 by scores of 20-25, 21-25 and 20-25.
Shannon Doyle led the Lady Lions in kills with 14 while
Kayla Guyot contributed 12 of her own.
Emma Brydels had another solid outing in assists for Lindenwood, racking up 40 total against the Miners.
Set one remained close for both squads and came down to the wire. After taking a 24-24 lead over the Miners, Lindenwood finished out the set to win 25-23.
Missouri S&T got hot after this though and jumped out to an early lead in set two. However, Lindenwood managed to get a rally going and soon the set was tied at 14 each. Missouri S&T began to pull away after this as they went up 22-14. After a timeout by head coach
Ron Young, Lindenwood reduced the lead to 22-20. The Miners put on the gas shortly after and took the set 25-20.
Lindenwood and Missouri S&T were neck and neck throughout most of set three. The Miners went up 17-13 and looked to extend their lead further. The Lady Lions came marching back again and tied the game 17-17. After this Missouri S&T scored three straight to go up 17-17. But again Lindenwood would not back down without a fight as they tied the game 20-20. However, Lindenwood ran out of gas while Missouri S&T went on another tear and won the set 25-21.
Missouri S&T carried this momentum with them into the match's fourth set. Although Lindenwood kept it close the first half of the set, Missouri S&T caught fire again going up 17-11. Young called a timeout after this but it would do no good. Missouri S&T continued to control the lead as they won 25-20 to take the final set and match.
The Lady Lions return to action Friday night when they travel to Edmond, Oklahoma to face Central Oklahoma at 7 p.m.
