Box Score The Lindenwood Lions women's volleyball team lost a close match to the Missouri-St. Louis Tritons by scores of 21-25, 18-25 and 13-15.
Shannon Doyle (16),
Megan Dillon (15), and
Kailene Young (14) had strong performances for the Lady Lions in the kills column.
Lindenwood got things going early by dominating Missouri- St. Louis in set one with a 25-16 victory. The Tritons battled back in set two by beating the Lady Lions 25-21.
Lindenwood stood strong in set three though as they edged the Tritons 25-23. Missouri-St. Louis bounced right back in the match's' fourth set with a 25-18 victory after taking a commanding lead.
After a tough loss in set four, both squads had the opportunity to shut the door if they could win set five. After Missouri- St. Louis took an early four point lead, the Lady Lions bounced back only trailing the Tritons 11-10. After this, Missouri St. Louis went on a streak as they scored three straight points to take a 14-10 lead.
Lindenwood would not go away though as they scored three straight to make the score 14-13. However, the late rally was not enough for the Lady Lions. Missouri St. Louis managed to get the final point, sending Lindenwood back across the Missouri River with a loss.
The Lady Lions return to action next Tuesday when they visit Illinois-Springfield for an afternoon match at 1:30 p.m.
