Women's Soccer Falls 3-1 to Southwest Baptist on Friday

Box Score The Lady Lions soccer team dropped their fourth MIAA game to Southwest Baptist 3-1 on Friday night in St. Charles, Mo.

The Lady Lions got off to a slow start falling behind on shots 9-0 as Southwest Baptist took a 1-0 lead halfway through the first on the ninth shot. Lindenwood started to pick up the action by moving the ball into the offensive zone and getting good looks at the net.

In the 34th minute of the first half the Bearcats committed a foul giving the Lady Lions a close-range free kick. Leading scorer Kat Roe took the shot and hit the top left corner of the net to tie the game at 1-1.

The second half began much similar to the first as the Bearcats led in the shot category and scored their second goal in the 68th minute. Southwest Baptist added another goal just ten minutes later to give the Bearcats a 3-1 lead.

Alexandra Neely made 11 saves in her first start this year playing all 90 minutes. Neely gave up three goals as she faced 26 shots which is the second most the Lady Lions have faced all year.

The loss will drop the Lady Lions to 8-8-1 on the year and a 5-4-1 mark in the MIAA. Lindenwood will complete the season when it faces Central Missouri on Sunday at 3 p.m. in St. Charles, Mo. for senior day. The Lady Lions will honor five seniors prior to the game.
