Women’s Hockey Wins First Game Of Season Over Penn State

The Lindenwood women's ice hockey team won its first game of the season 2-1 Friday night against the Penn State Nittany Lions. Nicole Hensley picked up her first win of the season in goal for the Lady Lions. Hensley saved 22 of the 23 shots from Penn State.

Lindenwood got behind early in the first period when the Nittany Lions struck first with a goal by Jordin Pardoski. The Lady Lions came out swinging in the second period though. Carrie Atkinson tied the game as she scored her second goal of the season early in the period.

Midway through the second the Lady Lions got the go-ahead goal when Jocelyn Slattery found the back of the net to give Lindenwood a 2-1 lead.

The Lady Lions faced a flurry of Penn State shots throughout the third period. However, Lindenwood held strong and came out on top as it closed out the game with a 2-1 victory.

With the win the Lady Lions improve 1-12-2. They will return to action tomorrow afternoon against Penn State at Lindenwood Ice Arena at 2 p.m.
