Women's Volleyball Drops 3-2 Decision On The Road

Box Score The Lindenwood women's volleyball team fell to the Southwest Baptist Bearcats 3-2 Tuesday night in Bolivar, Missouri. Kayla Guyot led the Lady Lions in kills with 21 and Emma Brydels had 45 assists.

The Lady Lions got off to a fast start in set one. Lindenwood dominated Southwest Baptist throughout the set and were up by as many as seven at one point. While the Bearcats closed in on Lindenwood's lead at 23-21, the Lady Lions won the set after two straight attack errors by Southwest Baptist.

Southwest Baptist answered back quickly against Lindenwood as they had the led throughout the first half of set two. Lindenwood rallied though and soon tied the score at 13 each. After a short period of trading scores with the Bearcats, Lindenwood went on a run and cruised to a 25-20 victory.

The Lady Lions came out swinging in set three, hoping to finish off the Bearcats and head home with a 3-0 shutout. It looked like just that was going to happen when Lindenwood led the Bearcats by as many as nine with a 15-6 lead. However, Southwest Baptist went on a 10-0 tear and took a 16-15 lead. The Bearcats would go on to win the set 25-23.

The score remained close between both squads through the first half of set four. Southwest Baptist got the best of Lindenwood though and ran away with the set 25-20.

After surrendering a 2-0 lead to Southwest Baptist, Lindenwood was determined to not let the match slip away in set five. The Lady Lions held close with the Bearcats early and took a 7-6 lead. It was all Southwest Baptist after this though as they went on a 9-1 run to take the set 15-8 and match 3-2.

The Lady Lions return to action Saturday when they travel to St Joseph, Missouri to take on Missouri Western.
