Women's Volleyball Falls To Missouri Western

Box Score The Lindenwood women's volleyball team lost to the Missouri Western Griffons 3-1 Saturday night in St Joseph Missouri.

Kayla Guyot and Sarah Makowski had nine kills each while Megan Dillon and Kailene Young contributed seven of their own.

Lindenwood started the match out on a good note as it dominated the Griffons in the first set. The Lady Lions started the set with an early 8-3 lead. However, Missouri Western went on a 9-4 run to tie the Lady Lions 12-12. Lindenwood heated up after this though and led the rest of the way and took the set 25-16.

While Lindenwood dominated Missouri Western in set one, they could not do the same in the following. After tying the set at 3-3, Lindenwood would not see a lead, much less another tie the rest of the set. Missouri Western cruised to a 25-20 victory and evened the match score 1-1.

Eager to take back the lead and leave St Joseph with a victory, Lindenwood came out swinging early in set three by taking a 6-3 lead. Although Missouri Western tied the set 7-7 shortly after. Both squads traded points and Lindenwood held close through the first half of the set. However, the Griffons got hot again and controlled the rest of the set with a 25-18 victory.

Lindenwood hung with Missouri Western early in set four but ran out of gas again. After Missouri Western took an 11-8 lead, Lindenwood scored three straight to even the score up at 11 each. However, Lindenwood struggled to keep up as the Griffons went on a 14-6 run to take the set 25-17 and match 3-1.

The Lady Lions return to action Tuesday evening at Hyland Arena when they take on Missouri Southern at 7 p.m.
