Box Score postgame interview (video)
The Lady Lions hockey team concluded its home series with Mercyhurst on Sunday afternoon with a 4-1 setback. The game was the final one for the program before the Christmas holiday.
The Lakers took control of the game midway through the first period. Mercyhurst scored an even-strength goal at 11:54 and also went on the power play after that goal. Just over a minute later the Lakers scored again to go up 2-0.
Mercyhurst would go up 4-0 with two more goals in the second period. Lindenwood scored the final goal of the game when
Katie Erickson found the back of the net while Lindenwood was on a five-on-three power play.
Chelsea Witwicke and
Jordyn Constance earned assists on that goal.
Nicole Hensley returned to the lineup and kept the game close with 38 saves. She made one of the top saves on the season when defending CHA Player of the Year Christine Bestland had a breakaway late in the game. Bestland initially got Hensley out of position but she was able to recover for a glove save going against her momentum. (
