Box Score The Lindenwood men's basketball team lost its first conference game of the season 83-74 to the Northeastern State Riverhawks on Saturday afternoon in St. Charles.
Bryton Hobbs was way too much for the Lions scoring 36 points in the win. He was 10-for-17 from the field and five-of-eight from behind the three point line.
The contest was all Riverhawks from the opening tip. The Lions led for just 47 seconds early in the game. Northeastern State pushed the lead up to 11 in the half and closed the first 20 minutes with a nine point advantage.
The second half wasn't much different than the first. The Riverhawks continued to score and pushed their advantage up to as many as 17. Lindenwood was able cut the lead to nine with 2:05 left but could not get over the hump. Northeastern State would hold on for its second conference win of the season.
Lindenwood shot 43 percent from the field and just 25 percent from behind the three-point line. The Lions outrebounded the Riverhawks 33-25.
Darris Smith led the team in scoring with 14 points.
Michael Boos and
Tyler Ressel chipped in with 13 points each. Garrett Reegg led team in rebounds in with nine and scored 11 points.
The loss dropped the Lions to 5-5 on the season and 1-1 in MIAA play. Up next for Lindenwood is a nonconference game against Robert Morris Spingfield on Wednesday night.
