Lady Lions Fall After Second Half Push By No. 7 Central Missouri

Box Score The Lindenwood women's basketball team took a 22-20 halftime lead against No. 7 Central Missouri before the Jennies rallied back to defeat the Lady Lions by a score of 58-44 on Wednesday evening.
 
Central Missouri jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the first two minutes before Lindenwood halted the Jennies momentum. The Lady Lions answered back with a 9-0 run over their own to take over control.  Central Missouri would cut the Lindenwood lead to two several times, including as the teams went to the intermission.
 
Julie Hlinak and Marissa Lehnig led the Lady Lions with six first-half points while Cassie Bluemner snagged a floor-high seven rebounds.
 
The Lindenwood momentum slowly dwindled as Central Missouri came out of the locker rooms to promptly tie the game at 22-22. The two teams would exchange leads for the first ten minutes of the half. After a jumper hit by freshman Jenny Rocha to tie up the game at 34-34, Central Missouri went on a 19-2 run to close out hopes of a Lindenwood comeback.
 
Hlinak finished the game with 12 points while Lehnig and Meagan Hittle each added 10 apiece. Bluemner led all players on the floor with nine rebounds. The Lady Lions shot 38.5 percent from the floor compared to 38.2 percent by the Jennies. Lindenwood committed just 12 turnovers and were outrebounded by two at 36-34.
 
The main difference in the contest was from beyond the arc. The Jennies went 10-for-31 from three-point range whereas Lindenwood was held to just 1-of-14 from three.
 
Lindenwood falls to 4-18 overall with a 1-13 mark in the MIAA. The Lady Lions will return home on Saturday for senior day against Southwest Baptist. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
