Second Half Rally Not Enough For Women's Basketball

Box Score The Lindenwood women's basketball team cut the Lincoln lead to four halfway through the second half, but it wouldn't be enough as the Blue Tigers pulled away for a 72-56 victory on Wednesday evening.
 
Julie Hlinak led the Lady Lions with 21 points. That was the fourth time she had reached the 20-point mark this season. The sophomore went 8-for-12 from the floor and 3-for-5 from beyond the arc.
 
Lindenwood kept the Blue Tigers within reach halfway through the first half, exchanging one-point leads before back-to-back three's by Lincoln's Freddie Sims put the Blue Tigers up five.  Lincoln proceeded to hold the Lady Lions scoreless, scoring 11 more points before a jumper by Sonya Milford snapped Lincoln's 16-0 run. Lindenwood went into the locker room down 40-25 to the Blue Tigers.
 
A 19-8 run to start the half for the Lady Lions cut the Lincoln lead to four with 9:51 left on the clock. The two squads seesawed back-and-forth for a couple of possessions before Lincoln quickly jumped back out to a 14-point lead with just over five minutes to play.
 
Sarah Schnieders recorded double-digit points for the Lady Lions with 10. Both Hlinak and Schnieders tallied a team-high six rebounds. Lindenwood outrebounded Lincoln in the contest, 28-27.
 
Lindenwood falls to 4-21 overall and 1-16 in the MIAA. The Lady Lions will finish up the 2012-13 season at Nebraska-Kearney on Friday evening. Tip-off in Kearney, Neb. is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
