Women's Hockey Ends Regular Season With 4-1 Setback

Box Score The Lindenwood women's hockey team's unbeaten streak came to an end at seven games on Wednesday night in New York. The Lady Lions ended the regular season with a 4-1 loss to Syracuse.

The turning point of the contest came in the second half of the second period. The Orange led 1-0 after the first period, but the Lady Lions tied the score at the 11:19 mark of the second period. Kendra Broad scored the goal with an assist from Caitlyn Post.

Less than four minutes later though, Syracuse went on the power play and converted for the only power-play goal of the series. That proved to be the game-winner as Lindenwood couldn't get another shot past Syracuse's Kallie Billadeau, and the Orange added two insurance goals in the third period.

Syracuse had a 40-35 advantage in shots, but Lindenwood outshot the Orange 28-23 in the final two periods.

Nicole Hensley took the loss in goal after making 36 saves on 40 shots. Alyssa West and Brooke Peden each had a team-high three blocks, and Post had a team-high six shots. Kendra Broad and Lyndsay Kirkham each finished with a +1 plus/minus.

Lindenwood concludes the regular season with a 7-24-3 overall record. The Lady Lions finished fifth in the CHA with a 7-10-3 mark. Lindenwood earned at least one win over every CHA program except regular season champion Mercyhurst.

Lindenwood next heads to the first round of the CHA Tournament. The Lady Lions will travel to Robert Morris for a best-of-three series starting on Friday at 3 p.m. (2 p.m. central). Game two is scheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m. (1 p.m. central), and if needed, game three will be Sunday at 2 p.m. (1 p.m. central). The winner of that series will travel to Mercyhurst on March 8-9 for the final two rounds of the CHA Tournament.
