Women's Basketball Drop Game Against Emporia State

Box Score The Lindenwood women's basketball team concluded its longest road trip of the season on Saturday, falling to Emporia State by a score of 85-54.
 
The Lady Lions struggled out of the gates, going down 22 in the first half. Emporia State held the Lady Lions to just a 25 percent clip from the floor and 22 percent from beyond the arc. The Lady Hornet's Rachel Hanf was the primary spark in Emporia State's offense, scoring 24 points in the first half alone.
 
Lindenwood came out of the locker rooms in the second and held Hanf scoreless for the remainder of the game. The Lady Lions never cut into the Lady Hornet lead, but Lindenwood turned in a more balanced attack, only being outscored by nine in the second half.
 
Marissa Lehnig continued to lead the Lady Lions, producing 14 points in the game. Julie Hlinak added 12 of her own while Meagan Hittle led the team in rebounds with seven. Lindenwood produced 16 bench points behind the lead of Katie Brown, who added a season-high nine points.
 
The Lady Lions continued to turn the ball over fewer times than their season average, turning the ball over just 15 times in the game. Lindenwood forced 15 Emporia State turnovers.
 
Lindenwood falls to 4-17 overall with a 1-12 mark in the MIAA. The Lady Lions will head to Central Missouri on Wednesday before coming back to the Hyland Arena floor for senior day on Saturday, February 16.
